2010 Best Details

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

According to Brides.com, there are 10 best 2010 wedding style details on their website.  Here are the ones we agree with!

1. Vintage brooch bouquets

Via Ms. Awesome - tutorial included!

2, Handmade and crafty!

3.  Unique escort cards

4. Handmade paper decor

Obviously we agree with the handmade love since we love personalized details but are we still going to see these trends in 2011?

I would definitely add:
  • modern/urban venues
  • not candy, but dessert buffets
  • food/dessert midnight snacks, maybe a midnight In n' Out truck visit?  Nom!
  • modern/short gowns
What else would you add?  Do you still expect to see these trends in 2011?

P.S.  We've been also wanting to do a little 2010 collage of our weddings but we're still missing two weddings.  Can't wait to share that with you!

Make One Big Thing Happen!

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Making Things Happen.

I attended the Making Things Happen tour with Lara Casey almost one year ago and so many great things have happened since then!

The point of it all is:  It all starts with you.  YOU have to make decisions, YOU have to conquer those fears, YOU have to make it happen.  Awesome thing is, is that it's all within...guess what?  You!...that's if, you really want it.

So to all my friends, you have about 2 weeks to make just ONE thing happen.  I really want to do ONE thing that will propel and jumpstart one or more of my 2011 goals.  Even if it's not one of your 2011 goals, just a goal, whether it be a personal, business, etc.

I have still to write down my one sentence goal I'm going to get done before 2010 ends, but I promise I'll be back.  In the meantime, what's yours?

...and remember this:

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.  ~Henry Ford

...and...

Start your sentence with "I will...".  What will you do before 2010 ends?

Tuesday Shoesday

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

It's been a while since we've had a Tuesday Shoesday around here but I just had to when I saw these!

Glamorous and extravagant, it screams "It's my day!".  This is a Philip Treacy for Valentino collection of Spring 2010.  Philip is a hat designer but this shoe design is pretty perfect for the bride who loves lace and attention!

Here's one more look:

What say you?  Yay or nay?

Happy Friday!

Friday, December 10, 2010

Have you heard that the color of the year for 2011 is honeysuckle?  According to Pantone, you're going to be seeing a lot of:

What do you think?  Yay or nay?  I'm pretty partial to pink so this is definitely exciting!  One of our weddings actually has a hue of this honeysuckle.  You can see the board I made for that wedding here and you can read the article here.

Also, I hadn't really written about the infamous royal wedding but these sketches from designers are pretty gorg and I just had to share!  These were my favorite:

I'm really liking this next one!

This last St. Pucci one is also a favorite!  All via Brides.  Which one's your favorite?

Monique Lhullier Sample Sale!

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Ladies!  Right now is probably the best time to shop around for that dreamy dress.  Lots of stores are having sales to get in their 2011 collections.

This weekend Monique Lhullier is having a sample sale and you can save 40-90% of as-is dresses!

First come, first serve too, so set your alarms!

Real Wedding: Elizabeth + Paul

Monday, December 6, 2010

So happy to share images of this wedding at the Long Beach Aquarium of Elizabeth + Paul.  This one was definitely a special one because the groom had a very special surprise for his lovely bride.  We would meet and when she would get up for reason a or b, he would update me on his surprise.  It was exciting!

First look!  I always love these shots and the expressions they make when they first see each other!

It's a big whale!  We had a whole 2 hours to transform this venue after it closed...talk about time crunch!

Here's the big surprise.  Paul had rented a baby grand piano and got Matt Giraud to come and perform!  Even Paul sang for her!  Seriously, this guy loves his girl and he wasn't afraid to show it!

I hear Mrs. Liz is now expecting!  Congratulations to you both!  Can't wait to see that baby bump!

Wax Paper Poms

Friday, December 3, 2010

Everyone out there knows about the infamous tissue paper, but have you seen wax paper poms?  I think they're gorgeous!   They have this softer look about them...

What do you think?
This is all you need:
  • Waxed Paper
  • Scissors
  • Covered Floral Wire or flexible metal wire
You can use them so many ways!  For decor at home, weddings, and gifts.  Christmas is just right around the corner!

The process is pretty much the same as making tissue paper poms but if you've forgotten how to, head on over to the Nice Package Blog!

Happy Weekend!
