Happy Friday!

Friday, April 30, 2010

Real life sometimes sucks, but sometimes it can be soooo goooood!  My huz and I our finally taking our honeymoon this coming week and if anyone wants to go to St. Maarten come on over and try to squeeze into my luggage!  It's been long overdue and I just can't wait!

On another note, these past couple weeks have been pretty busy and amazing.  Events, emails, my couples, and great friends make it all the worthwhile!  A very special thanks with squishy hugs and sloppy kisses to my lovely Andrea!  Note:  Drea:  we should find some pictures of Europe and show how our old school love flourished! =)  Drea's going to be holding down the fort for me while I'm gone, so to all my brides (if ya'll even read this!) and new inquiries: if I don't get to answer right away, you know why but please CC to the amazing andrea at justwenderful{dot}com

I also can't wait to share details of last Saturday's wedding but I'm not sure when I'll get to do that so here is a teaser!

Have a great day... & weekend!

Events - Wish Upon A Wedding

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Last Thursday I went to the Wish Upon a Wedding OC/LA Launch Party and had an amazing teary-eyed time!  I introduced this organization here in this post and we are so happy to be part of the volunteer coordinator committee.

Here are some pictures courtesy of Brian Khang!

The fab Melinda of Cake Goodness knows how to bake up a storm let me tell ya!

They showed a video of the latest couple and it was pretty touching to hear what a group of people can do to couples in need.  It really is a dream come true for them.  It's pretty heart wrenching to know that these are terminally ill patients as well.  Knowing this if anyone of you out there want to help, donate time or services please contact us so we can place you on our database!

Bridal Week - Spring 2011

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Last week, I was glued to my computer way more than usual. Why, you may ask? Only because it was New York Bridal Fashion Week! I've been searching the web and tweeted images of the goods straight from the runways of the Spring 2011 shows. Let me tell you, I'm in heaven! Many designers have outdone themselves yet again - a feat I thought couldn't be accomplished after the shows last fall. There is NO way I can mention all of the gowns that I loved, so I'll just highlight a few and then you all can go have a look for yourselves! Afterall, nothing makes a girl swoon more than a gorgeous gown!

Here are the goods:

As usual, Monique Lhuillier is at the top of my list of favs. I have always loved her incessantly feminine style, but this fashion forward mini dress is to-die-for!!!! Thanks to Tracy of
RecycledBride for spotting it & including it in her "15 most beautiful, stylish, and downright jaw-dropping dresses" from the spring shows.

Carol Hannah Whitfield - Love, love, love this first one! These gowns are absolutely perfect for the more laid-back affair.

Priscilla of Boston - I love the lace accents on thes gowns - so delicate.

Christos - Beautiful tulle overlay could be seen on many Christos designs for Spring 2011. I love the classic, vintage ballroom gown look of this line.

Be sure to check out Brides.com for the most comprehensive collection of images from Spring 2011 Bridal Week.

Happy Friday!

Friday, April 23, 2010

I had the pleasure of meeting Joseph and Jenny Llanes at the Utterly Engaged party earlier this year.  She contacted me to have some coffee so I could see their work and I was completely in love with their shots!

 Especially this one:

The light they captured on this one is beautiful!  The nice thing about this husband and wife photography team is that they are so versatile.  They can capture candids like the one above or make you pose against a wall and transform it into a high fashion shot.

Just recently they shot Rhianna too!

Hot huh?

They're a pretty awesome team!  For more info and photos to drool over visit them HERE.

Vera!

Thursday, April 22, 2010

So by now you've all heard that Vera Wang has partnered up with David's Bridal to launch a new bridal collection 2011 right?  There was A LOT of controversy on twitter about this.  Many said that they weren't sure why Vera was taking this step because it would mean diluting her couture brand.  I say why not?  Vera obviously has a whole entourage of people advising her on pros and cons of taking this step.  The gowns will be under $1500 according to David's Bridal blog and I think that this partnership will totally make lots of brides-to-be ecstatic.

What do you think?

And on another Vera note, you can preview the Vera Wang 2011 Spring Collection right here on Melrose during her trunk show April 29th - May 1st.

Last Minute Bride Teasers

Monday, April 19, 2010

Here's an inspiration board I put together after looking at our venue for this event.  Many venues already have a "feel" because they have deco that is there to stay for your event so you might feel a bit restricted in terms of design and your ideal concept.  I would recommend that if you don't hate the deco but absolutely LOVE the venue and location, make it work!  It wasn't too hard to work with Valentino's Salon and Spa in Glendale.

Last Minute Bride
Our event has come and gone, but if you missed it we are definitely planning on hosting another one!

One of my brides taking advantage of the FREE makeup trials!

In LOVE with this vintage guestbook!

JD of Shall We Dance Entertainment was great!  Not only did he DJ and MC but he sang and he was awesome entertainment!

All photos by Stacey Steffe of Better Than Naked!  Will definitely share more photos once I get them!

Happy Friday!

Friday, April 16, 2010

I usually have a recent kick-ass wedding or e-session picture that has been featured for my Happy Friday, but I ran across this & it reminded me of my own wedding, except I was laying on sand and I looked more like Obama...asleep.

Looks like a good ending to me!

Hot off the runway...Black Wedding Gowns for Spring 2011!!!

While looking through the images from Spring 2011 Bridal Week & trying to pick my faves for the blog, I spotted something that I had to write about asap. The Black Wedding Gown is a growing trend in bridal fashion that I will probably never be onboard with, but fashion is art...right? Over the last several years, designers have been playing with color in their bridal collections. While I love the growing availability of gowns in fresh colors or colored accents, I'm not a fan of the black gown. I'm sure that designers, for the most part, only put their black wedding gowns on the runway for a dramatic effect. Nevertheless, Spring 2011 had its fair share of dark gowns.

Oscar de la Renta

Vera Wang may have inspired many designers Spring 2011 collections & added momentum to this trend with her Fall 2010 collection last October, debuting a black gown - as seen below.

Vera Wang Spring 2011

I'm always a big fan of Vera Wang's use of color in her bridal collections, but this charcoal color is a little too close to black for my taste.

Ramona Keveza Spring 2011

This is truly a beautiful gown, but for a bride? What do you think?
