Cyber Monday

Monday, November 30, 2009

My usual Etsy Monday goes in hand with today's Cyber Monday!  I never even knew this existed til a week ago.  I know right, where have I been?

I was watching the news and they mentioned that Black Friday sales were up only 1/2% from last year but a whopping 11% up online sales.  I admit I was one to help.  I'm so done with crowded stores.  I sat on my comfortable couch and clicked away.  Now I only have a few gifts to go and I'm all done. =)

Another trend and advice I'm loving and I've taken is to purchase and support small businesses like the most craftiest and talented peoples on Etsy.  There are a lot of vendors that are offering A LOT of deals, like "Buy two, get one free" or "Free Shipping" all until tomorrow.  So please go support!

I've found a couple of random wedding items that are oh-so-lovely and offer great shipping!

It's called "Greek Goddess Headband".  Maybe I love it so much because it resembles mine?

Mojito Fizzing Bath Ice by PureIntox.

$9 for 60 pieces.  You can make some cute "pamper yourself" gifts for your bridesmaids' gifts.

Did I tell you my huz lost his ring a month after our wedding?  I know!  I'm over it though.  Although it hurts my pockets to see it gone, it's just a ring.  I'm not sure if I should get him another one just yet but if I would look at this!

It's organic with a 14k gold inlay and only $116.  I'm not sure he'll like the gold, but they have others available.

And on this note: A year from today my huz asked me to be his wife on a ferris wheel.  So...Happy Engageaversary Baby!  I ♥ you!

This was right after he asked!

Happy cybering, err...shopping everyone!

Happy Friday!

Friday, November 20, 2009

I was searching for inspiration for my TTD and I stumbled upon KLK Photography.

Cool shot huh? I thought of taking a road trip to Palm Springs, but that would be too much!

Then while I was scrolling down I saw this wedding.

Look! They had arcade games at their wedding! They had the basketball hoops game and skeeball! Definitely not a boring moment.

Instead of cake, they had fortune cookies for their guests and they each had a fortune cookie that they had written for each other. How sweet is that!

Seriously not only are the pictures great, but all the elements in this wedding were pretty unique and very awesome!

Happy Friday ya'll! Enjoy this last weekend before Turkey Day!

Trashing and Waiting!

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Oh noz! I didn't blog yesterday! I completely ran out of time and now I'm blogging pretty late. Forgiiiiz me?

Yeah, I bet you didn't even notice! Yesterday I had a shoot with the most awesome-est photog Shannon Lee. We finally trashed my dress! I can't wait to see the pictures! She showed me a couple of them as we went and I was just in awe from the spectacular light she was catching on film. A shout out to mama Earth and her fuzzy rays of sunlight!

I also must give special thanks to Fleuretica for providing us with a fabulous bouquet. This is the only peek I have for you:

You ladies are amazing! Isn't it gorgeous? All I can say is my dress matched the bouquet by the end of the shoot.

A Not So Funny Story

Monday, November 16, 2009

The day of my wedding I woke up to hear the rustling of my huz leaving the front door. Umm, yes I said LEAVING. I was half asleep and turned and tossed for a bit until I realized it was my wedding day!

I get up, wake up my niece who was here from the ATL for her auntie's wedding and I ask her if she knew where the huz was. She said she was still in bed but she was sure he had just left 15 minutes ago. I call him. NO answer. I call him 15 more times and NO ANSWER! I call his mom, brother, and friends and they have no idea where he is.

So I cry.

His mom tells me to calm down and his brother says "Don't worry". You wanna know all the things that went through my mind? I don't think you do so I'll save you some grief but GOD DA-rling, I was pissed, shaking, and my face looked beautiful, red, and puffy. Perfect!

After 3 hours, his mom got a hold of him and told me to leave to the hotel and that was everything was ok. No it wasn't! I wanted answers! I couldn't be that big of a beezy and especially not to his mom. I followed her directions and drove, still in tears. My niece said "You're right for being so pissed. " and somehow that calmed me down. A bit.

He kind of messed up my day for me, that day. Now that I look back it still makes me want to give him a loving punch in the gut but I think I understand. Maybe guys worry too?

This is what the huz wore on our wedding day:

The huz graciously trying to C-walk. And, no those aren't gang signs. His fingers get funny when he's trying to dance. Bad coordination? Maybe.

Anywho, getting back, see his long sleeved guayabera with those nice khakis? Nice right? We wanted it casual. He wanted that too. Well, the day before he told a friend he was wearing this and his friend told him he'd be completely under-dressed. That morning he got up and tried to go tux hunting. He gave up when he tried on a few and none of them fit.

If I would've known I think we would've gone for a tie. See, but then again he's not a tie guy. Maybe they're not as easy to please as we think?

Here are a few ties I found on Etsy that I sooo would've opted for and if he was a tie guy, I'd totally purchase one now!

The white one for the groom, the black for the groomsmen?

Peacock feathers!

This one is my fave! It has a black lotus screenprinted. If you want to get involved in having every little thing in your wedding be of significance this one is it! Imagine a lotus inspired wedding. Read here for its significance. I've always loved the lotus flower because of its meaning behind.

These people have the most awesome selection of ties at a pretty good price. Go check em' out!

Vintage Inspiration

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Hey Everyone!

As I'm slowly coming off of my flea market high from Sunday, I decided to do a vintage styled inspiration board. I have a plethora of ideas for a vintage-themed wedding...so I'm just waiting for a bride that wants to run with this idea! These fab photos highlight the essentials for a great vintage wedding.

Here you go, inspire yourself...

I usually get uber-inspiration from the fabulously styled tablescapes, photoshoots & florals of JL Designs. I heart Carissa...she's awesome! I'll post the credits & links to where you can find these gorgeous goodies a little later!

Rose Bowl Flea Market

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

On Sunday, Andrea and I went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. A first for me but Drea frequents it almost every month. I don't think one visit is enough to see all of it because it's huge and it has everything from clothing to vintage finds to the more modern. Although it is November, I got a bit of a shirt tan so one thing Drea recommends is to go anytime other than the summer because it gets hot!

So want to see what I got? Here ya go!

The cutest pillbox ever for those days I want to rip my head off.

Sorry this one's blurry. It can be used as a necklace or a vintage brooch for a bouquet!

Same with this one. Your bouquet can look something like this:

Via Brenda's Wedding Blog

This one's actually pretty small. I'm thinking of saving it for my niece and purchasing a cute necklace to go with it.

These babies are all mine! They even have the vintage backing. Cute huh?

Again, blurry! Sorry, that Canon 7d is taking longer than I thought! Anywho, I've always wanted a chandelier in my house but I wasn't exactly sure where I'd put it and it would have to be something small. This is perfect! It's still not in the right spot...I need the huz to help with this.

And my last purchase was this:

A cute, yellow, vintage cake stand. I couldn't say no to this! Anytime I have a get together at my place, my desserts will be sittin' in style.

So ladies, this is definitely a place to go. There were so many vintage pieces of furniture I fell in love with. I know this is where I'm coming to when we open our boutique! Another piece of advise: Many vendors place ALL of their items 50% off at noon. Next date: December 13th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

Something sexy for your first night with the hubby or something that hides those imperfections under that skin tight dress?
